Ask & Answer Questions

You Have the Tools; You Have the Talent

Effective and Creative Solution Strategies are a PROCESS; NOT AN EVENT.

Staying organized is VITAL to your success in problem solving. If you don't understand something, go to the Internet, read state and federal authorities, case law, blog posts, forums. Don't get sidetracked. Just get the answers to your list of questions. Save rabbit trails for later by using bookmarks or the "save to .pdf" feature on your printer. Revisit your rabbit trails when you feel stuck, or after you meet a deadline.

YOU are empowering yourself toward effective and creative solution strategies and YOU will be the one obligated to and responsible for solving your problem;

YOU will be learning effective and creative solution strategies which you will practically apply in your issue situations now and in the future.

Stay Organized; Maintain Control;

                                   Prepare for Timely & Powerful Response

There are tools that you will need to have access to in order to fight your case effectively. Without these basic tools, you are at a disadvantage. If you have nothing; head to your local public library, or to your law library at your local courthouse. Some of the things that you will need to do can be done there.

If you are new to working with documents take a few minutes to make some rules for yourself about how you will handle documents from now on. If you have a scanner, learn to use it. If you don't have a scanner, revisit your priorities and get one.

Find out where you can have copies and scans made locally until you can afford your own fax/printer/scanner/copier. Get a portable key drive, so that you can keep your files with you in the event that you will need to access them from different computers.

Familiarize yourself with file types and extensions.

HELPFUL & FREE SOFTWARE:

The first lesson: learn to ask and answer questions.

NEVER ask your adversary a question unless you ALREADY know the answer. If you really can't find the answer; then this is a matter for discovery. You want to make sure that you really can't get the answers first, before you attempt to sue for discovery because discovery is limited.

If you can master this, you will always be on top. You will use the question and answer process to solve your problem; or to "prevail".

I don't like to use the word "win"; generally there is nothing to "win"; you already lost or you wouldn't be fighting. Furthermore "winning" suggests you are engaged in a game. I do not consider these issues to be "games". However, many folks do - including and usually your adversary.

Make a list of questions. Prioritize them in order of importance. Set out to answer each one. As new questions arise, write them down. I have an .odt file called 'QUESTIONS'; when I have new questions, I put them there. I answer the previous questions. This process of asking and answering questions is key to staying on point, not getting distracted, and will aid in your cumulative learning process.

Are you doing effective research? Are you sure?

Head to your search engine and enter "effective research". Also look for "source of authority".
